WaterFurnace Introduces New Product Naming for Entire Commercial Product Line
“As the Commercial Solutions group has grown in size and product depth, we felt it necessary to make this change. The new name affects all commercial product lines, from the most basic technologies to the most advanced. This structure offers greater, more appropriate and quickly identifiable product names, especially among sales professionals, those in the design and specification channels, as well as MEPs, architects and building owners,” said Paul SelkinCommercial Vice President of Sales and Marketing.
The new product naming convention brings together diverse product lines under two primary brand names: Versatec™ and TruClimate™. The Versatec brand identifies the company’s commercial range for water-to-air heat pumps, DOAS units, rooftop equipment and indoor console heat pumps. The TruClimate brand identifies the company’s water-to-water heat pumps and modular chillers.
The product family brand name is followed by a numbering system of 100, 300, 500 or 700. These numbers intuitively communicate prioritization and application characteristics to customers. Low numbers indicate that the product is intended for less intensive applications or offers standard technology features, while higher numbers communicate the ability to tackle the most robust and complex applications. Each product name is then completed with an application indicator, if any, and the general product family to which it belongs, as shown in the following example:
TruClimate 700 water-cooled modular chiller: The name TruClimate lets customers know it is a heat pump or a water-to-water chiller. The level number (700) indicates that the chiller has advanced features, such as simultaneous heating and cooling and a removable 6-tube collector rack. Finally, “Water-Cooled Modular Chiller” defines the type of product to be specified.
“This is a carefully planned and deliberate change; we know it will allow all professionals, bound by their role in product specification and system design, to quickly understand what product range is being referenced, its role in a mechanical system, its size and features.And, to help our customers make this transition easily, we will be updating our website and marketing materials to include both current and new names for a period of time. of time selected until the market masters the naming convention,” concluded Selking.
