The export price of Chinese garlic has stabilized in the past two weeks
Chinese garlic market price was on the rise ahead of Chinese Spring Festival [12 February, 2021], and began to fall afterwards. Over the past two weeks, the market price has stabilized. The current export price of Chinese garlic has fallen by a third compared to the same period last year. The reasons for this development are linked to the volume of storage and distribution channels. The new garlic season in Yunnan has hardly had an impact on the Chinese market.
There were rumors in the Chinese garlic market regarding the impact of weather conditions on production volume earlier this year. Many people believed that the cold will significantly reduce the volume of production in the new season. They expected the price to peak later in the season. This is why buyers continued to buy garlic in the production areas, creating a buying craze.
“These conditions are now completely gone. The bad weather conditions did not have a huge impact on the production volume. A new garlic will be entering the market soon. The quality of the product appears to be quite good.” That’s according to Annie Chen, sales manager at Jining Fenduni Foodstuff Co., Ltd.
Asked about the current conditions in the transportation sector and its impact on the export of garlic, Annie Chen replied, “The shipping costs have very slowly started to drop after the Chinese Spring Festival, which is certainly beneficial. for the export of garlic, and at the same time the shortage of sea containers in Asia is gradually being resolved. The current bottleneck is in Europe where there is still a serious shortage of sea containers.
“We are always able to deliver our garlic on time to our destination markets. However, the Covid-19 pandemic continues to affect overseas markets, although conditions are much better than in 2020. Each segment of the export process is continuing on schedule, ”Ms. Annie Chen said.
